The last time I watched a complete episode of the ATV series Robin Hood I was a little kid- and took its heroics at face value. Watching the 1955 episode "The Betrothal" last night I was surprised to find that it is in fact knowingly silly- with jokes about chopping people's heads off and sending them to their wives. I checked to see how old Terry Jones was when it was first broadcast- and the answer is 13.
