Something Between A Howl And A Roar

It's very quiet at the moment, but Matt and the gang are here to cut down trees and trim bushes so the silence will shortly be shattered.

And there it goes: right on the stroke of nine- the voice of the chainsaw- something between an howl and a roar- like a cow with attitude and remarkable breath control.

It's a new chainsaw. It's owner was showing it off- squatting astride it and sharpening its teeth with a file. Someone made the obvious joke about "compensation"...

They've been using an angle grinder on paving slabs here- much the same effect!

My experience of those things is that they create huge volumes of dust.
