A lot of people have been reordering their gardens during the lockdown. As you know, I have been making a pond...

I gather the government is going to allow garden centres to reopen. It always seemed illogical to shut the garden centres but not the DIY stores.

I'm guessing the "logic" was around the potential need to perform repairs on a house, and also the question of what was an "essential" journey. I'm glad we got our broken fence panel fixed before the lockdown started.

Purely from self-interest I'd like to see the garden centres open, but who knows whether they will or how they will function. The nearest one here has a lot of indoor space filled with aspirational housewares, pseudo-farm shop, and a cafe. I suspect plants, tools and supplies aren't what generally brings in the money.

I think most of them are like that. There's one down the road from here which also sells antiques.
