A helicopter just flew over. Bloody noisy thing! What do they think they're doing, rotovating the peace of this blessed Sunday morning?

Of course it could be the Air Ambulance, in which case I retract the "bloody".

But it's probably the police or even the military. I didn't see it. By the time I'd left my chair and made it to the front door it was behind the trees.

It tends to be either the Air Ambulance or RAF Cosford here- they both fly out of the air base.

Here it's usually the police. I think they use choppers to monitor traffic on the A21

We have helicopters overhead very rarely, so when I do hear one I assume it's either a police action or a medivac.

Years ago when I had to commute across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a swarm of helicopters in the distance usually meant something bad happened and a fair chance the highway traffic would come to a screeching halt. I likened the copters overhead to vultures out west, circling in the sky over potential carrion.
