Buying Stuff In Bexhill
Aug. 20th, 2022 08:22 am We get our cars through Motability- and it's a lengthy process. There's paperwork to be submitted and the cars aren't there on the forecourt but only exist as a set of specifications waiting to be realised by the factory. We ordered one up yesterday from a dealership in Bexhill. We'll be downsizing from a 7-seater Citroen to a little Hyundai runabout.
The new car will be green. Ailz's mother had a phobia about the colour green (it's an Irish thing) and Ailz used to joke about getting a green car so she wouldn't have to drive her mother around. Well, that's all in the past...
We had lunch at the Cafe Rustico which does a very good vegan pizza- and bought a couple of pictures at our favourite Bexhill junk shop. The junk shop owner- who must be in his eighties- was in a good mood (he isn't always) and happy to chat. "I enjoy what I do," he said. His prices are erratic- and he was charging considerably more for Ailz's faded '70's print than for my 19th century coloured lithograph in original oak frame. These pictures complete the decoration of the downstairs back living room that is now to be known as Ailz's "study".
We got home in time to watch the Red Arrows going through their routine again. They're currently in the news after losing three members of the team to a scandal involving (that buzz phrase of the 2020s) "toxic culture". Don't know the details. Don't care to. The story in the Mail (which I haven't read) is accompanied by publicity shots of three straight-up white guys with1950s haircuts...
