Stirrings

There's a scent in the air that I interpret as the smell of living things responding to an afternoon's worth of late January sunshine. If I were some other kind of mammal than a homo sapiens- a dog or a deer or anything else that has to sniff out its food- I would probably know instinctively- but precisely- what it meant in terms of the life-cycles of every creature, animal vegetable and mineral, that impacted my own. As it is- with my blunted nose- I simply know that it lifts my spirits.

There was warmth in the sun- not much- but I acknowledged it by sitting out on the patio for ten minutes.
