Matthew and Simon are replacing a gate. They were booked to come yesterday but what with the wind and the rain they didn't. This is a serious farm-quality gate we're talking about- and the job needs seeing to- and not leaving for whoever buys the farm- because it's a gate we use a lot and it's currently held together with string.  The old post has rotted away at ground level and they've had to dig a hole the depth of a man's arm to remove the stump- which is bedded in concrete, of course. I find myself thinking of  root canal work.

Our son-in-law has come out of hospital after a major scare, my mother slept through the night, the Kryon website has posted some new audios and the sun is shining....

The new gate is in place. We need to treat it with consideration- and not swing on it or climb over it- while the concrete sets. Matthew says a farm gate should last for about fifteen years- or the lifetime of a dog or cat.

There's an ash tree down in the lower field- one of the ones planted up against the fence. It has fallen slantwise, at an angle away from the fence. Otherwise a lot of minor branches have been stripped from a lot of different trees by the recent high winds.
