If John Ford Had Made An Ealing Comedy...

I dreamed an episode from a John Ford film in which a team of Irish catholic priests (one of them played by John Wayne) had a cricket match scheduled against a team from England. The Englishmen had a star player capable of winning the game single-handed and the priests were planning to kidnap him and hold him prisoner until the match was over. The captain of the priests' team was having a hard time convincing his bishop that this would be the ethical thing to do.  

Pitchfork Time

Trump is heading up a peasants' revolt. The people waving torches and pitchforks aren't going to be worried whether what he says makes sense or accords with what he said yesterday. What they're following is the noise he makes.

Hillary represents everything the peasants are revolting against. I can't see her saying anything to make them cast aside the pitchforks.

A vote for Hillary is a vote for business as usual. A vote for Trump is a vote for God only knows what. But this is a revolutionary moment in western politics- and electorates everywhere are wondering whether God only knows what isn't the more attractive option.
