Steps

My mother is having increasing difficulty negotiating steps. I don't think it's entirely physical- though it's that as well; I think it's that she's lost the unconscious motor skill and is having to think about how to do it- and when she thinks she panics and totters. Ailz suggests we stop eating in the kitchen where the steps are most challenging

Ailz's mother rings and my mother picks up. My mother doesn't have a clue who's calling. The conversation goes "Hello?"," Hello", "Hello?", "Hello", "Hello Shirley", "Hello?"

It cheers me up enormously.
