If It's Not One Thing It's Another

The night before last a picture fell off the wall. I heard the bang and was afraid my mother had fallen out of bed. It always amazes me how much debris a single pane of glass produces.

Yesterday morning the electricity went off at the mains. I flipped back the switch and all was well.

There's been a leak under the bathroom floor for months. It shows up in the hall downstairs- where lines of staining have appeared and the paper is coming off the ceiling. This morning- for the first time- there was a drip

Also this morning the electricity failed again - at exactly the same time as yesterday. This time it wouldn't go back on until I'd taken out the circuit that has the downstairs lights on it.

Ailz is ringing a plumber and an electrician.

Changing Tack

I wobble in and out of vegetarianism. For several years now I've been an omnivore because it's easier that way but we were in Waitrose this morning, buying a week's supply of meat and I had moment of revulsion and thought, "What on earth am I doing?"

Ailz and my mother had hamburger for lunch and I had a samosa and a bhaji with boiled rice and chutney.

Nicest meal I've had in ages...
