I thought I'd find out some more about the Mandelbrot set so I looked at what Wikipedia had to say. It was a baffling experience. The text was composed of English words I recognised and understood but in combinations that made no sense at all. There were also equations.

I read the first few sentences out loud to Ailz. "Do you understand that?" I asked. "Yes," she said. "It's calculus. Calculus is simple once you know how."

"I'm completely lost," I said.

"That's how I felt," she replied, "When you tried to explain concrete poetry to me."

I had never heard the term so I also went to Wikipedia.

I'm with you -- I don't grasp a bit of it.

But there are those to whom it's as simple and straightforward as a child's reading primer.

I find it a little sad that the whole world of mathematics is closed to me- but there it is...
