Moving Into Autumn

Last week we planted things- including four fruit trees (we will eventually live in an orchard) and ever since I've been doing the rounds with a watering can in the evenings because the Indian summer has continued more or less unbroken. But now it's stuttering to a close; we had a downpour early this morning and, though the sun is shining now, the forecast for the coming week is fine tomorrow but then rain, rain and more rain. Maybe even some thunder and lightening....

I've been sitting out in the sun most afternoons- and having it drive me indoors because it was so hot, but there's a chill in the areas the sun doesn't reach- and a couple of days ago we turned the central heating back on.

Our afternoons are now comfortably warm instead of blazing hot, and mornings now have a noticeable coolness when I step outside.

If only it would last, soon I'll be complaining about the freezing temps and snow! :-)

I doubt that we'll see snow until after Christmas- and maybe not even then.
