The Future Is Running A Little Late
Jul. 9th, 2019 10:45 amThe wifi went down at the country pub where we had lunch yesterday and no-one could pay with plastic. Becky had said it was her treat but she was only carrying loose change so we dug into our wallets- which we'd filled earlier at a hole-in-the-wall.
The cashless society may be coming- and I understand the powers that be would welcome it- but we need to get some wrinkles ironed out first.
After we'd paid the landlady came out of her back room and kicked the card-reader round the car park (not literally) and it was working again. Even so...

Date: 2019-07-10 10:31 am (UTC)The card-reader at our favorite brekkie spot sometimes doesn't 'wake up' properly on a weekend morning, and the cash-free folks get a bit panicked at the inconvenience.
I'd rather use one cash machine, then spend that amount at ten different places, than give all those ten places a chance to compromise my account information.
