Freezer

The door fell off the freezer part of the fridge-freezer a week or two back. I managed to repair it, but the seal had gone and the freezer has been busy ever since freezing the passing breeze and filling itself up with nasty, fluffy ice. Not good.

So we went and bought ourselves a new one. It will be delivered Thursday.

The new one has a dispenser for iced water on the door. Cool.

It also has a much smaller freezer compartment than the old one, so for the next couple of days I will be stuffing myself with frozen food.

Which is to say all the things I bought on a whim then stowed away out of sight.

Hum. You've given me an idea for a pre-winter feast.

Eat what's in the bottom of the freezer...

That's a cunning plan....

I had fish for lunch, followed by a plateful of summer fruits- strawberries, loganberries, red-currants, cherries- which I ate still frozen- delicious!

The seal on the fridge part of our fridge doesn't seal worth spit unless we pound on it top and bottom. But then it seals. So we're putting off the fridge replacement until we feel more like that kind of major disruption in our lives.

Hitting the thing doesn't work in our case. I've tried.

We normally isure appliances like this, but, guess what, this one time we didn't bother...

*That* is our dream! On the one hand, we hope our old fridge will last another 10 years because that is when we can most likely afford a new one. On the other hand, it probably WILL fall apart before we're ready, and we'll incur more debt to replace it, but we'll console ourselves with our new ability to get glasses of fresh cold water from the fridge door~

Ailz drinks a lot of iced water. In the past we've had to mess about with ice cubes.

Not any more!

Mom and DAd got a freezer with the Ice WAter thingie, but couldn't put it close enough to a pipe to tap into it.

"Freezing the passing breeze". I know exactly what you mean.

I'm with Jackie, picture please.

This one won't be close to a pipe either. It has a small water compartment which we will have to fill with a jug.

yeah small freezers kind of suck. mine is small too- and after a trip to the BIg costco down the road, me and yuka were pining for it to be bigger.

"please- freezer, find ROOM for 10 frozen italiano pizzas! and if not THAT, then how about a bag of frozen steak dominoes?! or even, for the love of god, some frozen chinese dumplings!"

in the end though we went with her choice. a big bag of berries and a tub of ice cream. oh, and frozen corn. she loves corn.

Thing is we just don't use our freezer. We put things in it and forget all about them.
