I love 19th century medievalism when it's done for fun, but not so much when it's makers take it seriously. Decimus Burton, yes; Augustus Pugin, no.

The North Lodge stands on the hilltop looking down on St Leonards' central park. From 1918-23 it was the home of Sir Henry Rider Haggard.

Judging by the window detail, I'd have that down as Williamite.

Sailor Billy- there's a very distinctive architectural style belonging to his period.



The window detail on the right there (we've stayed many a time in that B&B) is a dead giveaway.
