Nicely Managed Though I Say It Myself

 I was on the phone to my daughter when the cat came in carrying a vole and plonked it on the carpet. It was alive but a little the worse for wear.  I picked up the cat and put him out one door, then picked up the vole and put it out the other door- all the while carrying on talking to Alice. Dextrous, eh?

Not something that would have been possible with a phone that was tethered to the wall as in olden tymes. 

The cat back in later and asked me what had happened to his vole. "I know I put it down over here," he said. 

"Gone." I said.

He probably concluded that I'd eaten it.

The cat was probably quite pleased, and will bring you more voles since you now (finally) eat the things he hunts. :-)
