We Shall Not Cease From Exploration
Nov. 21st, 2018 10:20 amThere are two antiques emporia on Cliffe High Street, one more or less facing the another. Both are huge- with the larger of the two extending back to the depth of four of five rooms and occupying three floors plus a cellar and an attic. I could wander there for hours. Going from booth to booth is like going from planet to planet. It's like exploring the universe.
I often visit such places in dreams. And apparently this is not uncommon. According to a writer I was reading the other day there's a whole level of the astral that tends to show up in dreams as an old curiosity shop.
Ailz bought a ring. I bought an antique print of Brighton (or Brighthelmston as they called it back then) by Turner (quite a famous image- with the old chain pier and a stormy sky with a rainbow in it.) Also a little boxed nativity set made in Africa out of banana bark.
