The irregular tick-ticking coming from the tree line at the top of the field will be the sound of beech nuts bouncing off the great log that's lying there.

It's the clunk of acorns here as the remains of the storm that has just done dreadful things over the border (only five miles or so away, after all) blows itself out over us.
