Sulking For The Camera

There was a man in the good seats at Wimbledon yesterday displaying a hand-written sign which read "I'D RATHER BE WATCHING THE FOOTBALL".

I wondered (a) what was keeping him from living the dream- because all he had to do was slip out of the stadium and switch on his phone.

and (b) who in particular he was trying to impress/ appeal to/ annoy.

In order to go viral for fame and fortune, have to be noticed first. That's probably as close to a rational reason as you are going to find for that.
