When the old start calling the young names it's usually because the young are doing something right.

And by "something right" I mean something the old either never thought of doing or something they should have done but never got around to because it was too demanding.

What the old are really saying when they criticise the young is "If being jerks was good enough for us why isn't it good enough for you?"
