Julia says she heard from Radio Sussex that the rabbit population is down this year. That accords with what we're seeing here. Usually our fields and garden are swarming with rabbits; this year they're not. In our case it'll have something to do with us letting the shooters in, but I don't think the shooters alone would cause such a drop. Julia didn't say how Radio Sussex explained it so perhaps they don't know. Disease, weather conditions, over-population leading to a shortage of resources; Nature has ways of keeping things in balance.

I like to see rabbits but I don't like it that they kill the trees by eating the bark- so my feelings are mixed.

Rabbit and fox populations seem to be pretty much in lock step and rabbits are definitely down here this year.

Not so hares, however!
