Well, of course. It's Bank Holiday Monday and all the bikers in the South East will be decanting themselves into Hastings for the Jack in the Green festival.
She offers it as an explanation for why she and Tanya (my mother's carers) are a little late. Not that we're bothered.
We know several people who are going this year. I've seen pictures from other years. It's quite a thing. Revellers in the most wonderful get-ups. One of these days we'll go ourselves. I could wear my three-cornered hat.
And for once there's glorious weather for it. Sun, sun, sun.
