I went to clean behind and under the cooker and found my mother had it chained to the wall.

In case it went on the rampage?

No, I get it really, if you had an "incident" and fell on top of it and pulled it over on top of yourself- unlikely but not impossible- it could be really unpleasant.

Probably not your mum- it's a thing required by law that gas fitters have to do with a stand alone, although the rules don't apply to a range like ours.

This is an electric cooker. We don't have gas.

My sister rang and reminded me it was Ailz and I who bought the cooker so the chaining happened on our watch and we must have known about it. I have a rotten memory for this sort of thing.
