I think all the vernacular versions may be translations from a Latin original.

They are- the Middle English one is quite early.

According to Wikipedia the German version is actually the original - or at least the earliest documented. Mind you, the trope of the rose as the Virgin Mary is usedwidely so it might have just been an adaptation of other Marian hymns. (And Wikipedia is NOT, I know, a perfect source.)
