Friendly Shouting

Is it possible to shout in a friendly manner? People manage it in books but I'm not sure it can be done in real life. I shout a lot at my mother because of her deafness and I don't mean it to sound cross but it always does.

I think it can be done. I shout for the cat when I want him to come inside - and that seems to be possible in a friendly manner that's quite distinct from when I shout at him indoors. I think I have a bit more of a "singing" intonation when I should at him to come home, versus the more abrupt tone I use when he has just knocked a vase of flowers over my laptop or something like that...

Of course I rarely have to call my mother in from the garden for her dinner. Mostly I'm shouting because she hasn't understood/heard/bothered to listen to something I've just said.

Is it possible to shout in a friendly manner?

I think so—it's just a matter of raising volume, not changing intonation—but I admit my test subjects for this statement are mostly my husband and the cats.

My shouting sounds cross to me but my mother never takes offence so perhaps she doesn't experience it that way.
