My other granny didn't actually have much of a stash.  That side of the family didn't get into serious snapping until the 1920s. My grandfather effectively deleted all records of his early life and my grandmother only kept a few commercially produced pictures of her girlhood.

Here's one of them.

These are the Bridges children. Their father was a draper (like Kipps.)  My Granny, Violet, is the oldest of the three girls. A fourth daughter, Joan (my favourite great aunt) was either not yet born or too young to join the parade.

Date? 1910- something like that.  Perhaps a little earlier...

I don't know why they were dressed like that, but it could have been for a family party with amateur theatricals...

Those hats or headpieces or whatever they are! So funny but cute in an odd sort of way. Different times...

I'm not sure quite what's going on. I don't think those outfits are everyday wear. They could be party clothes or even fancy dress. I gather the family went in for ambitious amateur theatricals.

Fabulous. I love it.

It was common then to go to a studio and get a photo that was made into a postal card...

We have quite a few photos from that time period. Or at least that resemble this. Are you sure it's not earlier? I have a bunch from the late 1800's that look similar...

The little boy- Harold- was born in 1897 (I've just found his birth certificate) and looks to be about 7 or 8 in the picture. So the date has to be 1904-5- and slap bang in the middle of the Edwardian era.

Yes, when I looked at it again I realized that. Sorry!

It's an amazing photo. They all are, actually...

So glad you're sharing them.
