1. Put plastic storage jars through the dish washer. They melt.

2. Pour TCP down the sink. It's a good healthy reek- but hard to get rid of. When I came down this morning Ailz had all the doors open in an attempt to dispel it. She says it had made the cat sick (literally).

It does depend on the plastic. I put the Tupperware boxes I keep cheese in through the dishwasher and they're fine. I also put the plastic bowl from the weighing scales and other plastic items in too. My big plastic storage jars won't actually fit, so they get washed by hand.

We've been dishwashing Tupperware containers too- and they come out fine- but this is a very thin, lightweight plastic.

What's TCP? Google isn't any help.

What [livejournal.com profile] heleninwales said. Some plastics will be all right on the top shelf but not the bottom. Some just don't work. When you say TCP do you mean the antiseptic? (I have been to Teh Google and my Google fu was momentarily mighty.)
