[livejournal.com profile] lblanchard tells me there's an app which converts all pictures of Donald Trump into pictures of kittens. This is excellent. But why not take the idea further- and whenever Trump crops up in our conversations or thoughts imagine him as a delightful little ginger kitten- and when he's doing something particularly destructive have him be playing with a ball of wool and getting his mischievous little legs all tangled up?

It's an extension for the Chrome browser called "Make America Kittens Again." You can Google it.

wish that was good enough

but he's already had his minions
deleting pages from the website

all to save money
for himself and friends
who already have too much.

Actually, the entire whitehouse.gov site, Obama version, was archived by the outgoing administration on the way out the door and (I suspect) the Trump transition team hadn't focused on the need to have something ready to roll until quite late in the game. The entire site was pretty skeletal, except for some of his major campaign platforms and what I suspect to have been the same old same old bios from the Trump organization.

Edited to add: see https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/ --the Obama administration's White House site is now part of the National Archives.

So- to be accurate- the Obama crew wiped the website and the Trump crew had to throw their replacement together in a hurry...

Which shows how organised Trump and his team are. They should have known that they needed a new website ready to roll out at the point of the transition, but even though producing a professional looking website should only take a matter of days, they hadn't got their act together to have more than a skeleton site ready.

Apparently this was planned all along and is quite standard; after all, you can't have statements of intent or policy from a previous administration on a website that now belongs to a very different administration.

I do think the Trump team should have prepared their content better, but... Well, in the greater scheme of things I think this is just a small technicality. I certainly worry about the future of LGBT rights in the US, but not because Obama's statements were archived from a website he is no longer connected with.

Team Trump is playing mad catch-up, which they are trying to blame on the feckless actions, or lack thereof, of Chris Christie...

Really? Anybody who has ever had a kitten will know how much damage they can do to a home - I can't even imagine what they could do to a country!

(There's a very real reason I named my cat after the Norse demigod of mischief...)

enabling them to survive.

Loke / Loki was the troublemaker, the one who liked to shake things up just for the sake of it without too much care for the consequences. In that respect he's one of the most interesting personallities in Norse mythology. (If I didn't like him I probably shouldn't have name a pet after him...)

And for the record, I do think the Chrome add-on is a brilliant piece of satire, considering "pussygate". Satire is always best when directed at people in powerful stations and when it's based on real events.

my new cat got named snorri
he didn't answer to loki.

what's the use of being immortal
if you end up bored- seemed to be a loki thing.

he's one of my favorites too.

I'm not sure cats really respond to names... Loke surely doesn't - but that's okay. I knew I wasn't getting a dog when I brought him home from the shelter. ;-)

cats will let you know.

Moget hated the name Lucky-he'd ignore us.
purred when we asked if he liked Moget.
sadly we did not cotton on till he was around age 3.

Pookie came running across the apartment
and into my lap and butted his head at me purring.
one of my customers brought him to me-
I opened up the box and this dirty black kitten crawled up
and hugged me around the neck.
later i found out he was white with black spots.

Snorri ignored all the other names
and looked at me when asked "Snorri"?
and Snorri-man - found out a month later the
brother that died called him cinnamon.

Sirius comes when called & butts me with his head demanding more
he was feral and found us doesn't know a cat is supposed to be aloof.

They sound adorable...

"My" first cat was Zeus; his owner was bipolar and couldn't keep him, so I was catsitting for 6 months until I had to move abroad and found a permanent home for the cat as the owner could still not take him.

And then this summer a young cat snuck into my car at a motorway rest-stop, and as he was neither chipped nor tattooed I had the choice between sending him off to a shelter or... Well... He was cute! And because the vet had to register a name for him on the official papers he was named Punto - after my car! (I had to put him down after two months, though, as he had a rather unfortunate meeting with a piece of farm machinery one afternoon while out roaming the fields. I took him home and buried him in the garden the next morning.)

And after Punto... Well, NEVER a cat again! Two weeks later I was holding a tiny black kitten at the shelter. And he's NOTHING like Punto was - which is fine; Punto was about a year when he hitched a ride in my car, and Loke is still a young adolescent so he needs a bit more attention and still has things to learn. (He no longer gets stuck in trees, which is a GREAT improvement!)

trees!

you've been lucky
cats are all so different.

at the cabin
we woke up to
a haaaalp haaaalp
finally figured out which tree he was in

you got yourself up there
you can get yourself down!

after a while he did get down

turned out it was us finding out
there was a new dog running around
we found her and her puppies

the next we heard a woof
then the haalp started again
heheh

luckily it smelled better when the dogs
found a skunk ;)

There was an episode of The Goodies where a kitten got blown up to monster size and wrought havoc across central London.
