Woke up this morning to find our garden full of sheep.



They normally reside in the field next door, only somehow the gate had been left open.

This is giving me a pleasant flashback to living in the small village of Stahl in Germany, 35-ish years ago. We were occasionally delayed going to or from work because of sheep being herded along the road.

That's quite a lot of sheep stampeding by your door. Did they get rounded up?

I'm told there are about 200 in the flock but not all of them ended up in our garden.

We didn't have the farmer's number so I had to knock up the neighbours who rent him their field. Once I'd set things in motion the clean-up operation was over quite quickly- and the sheep returned to where they came from.

That used to happen to us when we lived 7 miles outside the town. The sheep were no problem, they knew they weren't supposed to be on our field and I could herd them back easily. It was when the herd of cows, plus bull, strayed onto our land that it got a bit more worrying.

Yes, cows kill people sometimes- I don't suppose sheep ever do.
