Talking about songs that make a difference, I've just played the video for George Michael's Outside. What a great way that was of hitting back...

Jesus saves...

...us all...

...all.

"Outside" was something special... A poppy dance number with such a personal story and such defiance! It meant a great deal to me when it came out - pun not intended.

I've never been a "fan" of any musician, really, but there are certain points in certain musicians' careers that seem important, though perhaps more to some than to others. No work of art should ever be universally acclaimed.

I didn't much like Michael's work- far to poppy for me- but that number was special- so brassy and unrepentant.

I've been reading about him. There was an article by Simon Hattenstone which made him seem like a lost little boy- too frank, too open for his own good. It made me think of Elvis...
