I'd always sort of imagined- because of how everyone called him a genius-  that Michael Jackson wrote his own material (with a little help from Quincy Jones perhaps.) Turns out I should have read the sleeve notes. Some of his biggest hits- including Thriller (than which nothing is more Jacksonish)- were written by a doughy-faced man from Cleethorpes.

Rod Temperton died last week- the greatest British songwriter you'd never heard of.

He wrote songs for many big American singers- George Benson, Donna Summer. Amazing!

We're trying to decide on a song for our first dance, and Heatwave's "Always and Forever" is on the short list.

Temperton has certainly provided me with hours of listening pleasure over the last four decades, so many good songs that I'm a bit embarrassed to only know learn who was behind them.
