Watch The Skies

We get a lot of planes passing through our air-space- mostly airliners going in and out of Heathrow- but there's a funny little single-engine job that buzzes over most days- and about a week ago there were two red biplanes which made me think- as I'm sure they were meant to - of the Richthofen Flying Circus.

Planes are pretty. Especially the ones that are flying so high they look like tiny silver darts.

I live in hope of spotting a UFO, but those guys only let you see them when they want you to- so I don't suppose I ever shall.

I can't be sure. I didn't notice any stripes on the wings- but then I was never that close.

I really want to know, now :) I'm often frustrated by wanting to know exactly what a plane is and what it's up to.

All I can say is that they were flying low over Matfield, Kent. I should have posted about them at the time but now I can't remember what day it was.

I like seeing planes, especially when they're so high I don't have to listen to them! Little shards of light, shooting across a blue sky and drawing random criss-cross patterns...

(I hate being on them, though; they're really just glorified buses, aren't they? I've felt as comfortable on the number 10 bus from King's Cross to Tufnell Park as on a plane.)

It's a very long time since I was last on a plane. Almost everything to do with flying- apart from the flying itself- is grim.

They're out there, but mostly they're able to hide from us. They employ cloaking devices and suchlike; after all their technology- by definition- is far in advance of ours.
