Ancestral Figures

poliphiloMy grandfather turned up in second dream recently. I don't remember the circumstances, just that he was in it.
When my father shows up in dreams I get the feeling that it's him personally- if you know what I mean- and his appearance is in furtherance of our relationship. With my grandfather I think I'm dealing with a purely symbolic figure- representing age, wisdom, tradition- all that sort of thing. I was close to my grandfather in life, but in dreams he's just part of the furniture.
Perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps he'll turn up sometime and we'll have a proper chat...
