Government Propaganda
Apr. 13th, 2016 10:56 amThe government booklet urging the case for EU membership arrived the other day. I haven't read it yet. I wonder what percentage of the electorate will.
I do think it was a bit high-handed to spend so much public money on the mailshot. I mean, how many libraries could you fund for £9 million? Austerity never seems to apply to the things the government really cares about.
At least it doesn't have a picture of David Cameron on the cover.

And they just throw it away for campaigns, paper and colorful pictures. Things lacking substance.
I don't know if I should call that "stupidity" or "something fishy with it".

Date: 2016-04-14 08:51 pm (UTC)I've found I immediately avoid anything labelled as "facts" on this issue, by either side, because I doubt I will believe them. For me it's a no-brainer to remain in, even though the EU is far from perfect.
Incidentally, I'm surprised you haven't posted anything about the Panama papers. Did I miss a post, or are you just watching the opening of the stables from a distance?

Date: 2016-04-15 08:48 am (UTC)Cameron has been exposed as a member of his class, with plutocratic instincts- whose dad was a professional tax evader- but all of this was already known. He himself has done very little wrong; he just made things looks worse by making such a fuss about coming clean.
