Yesterday morning was Dyno-rod. Yesterday afternoon was the plumber. All he had to do was change a tap- but the old tap had been in place for 40 years and didn't want to be taken away and the job took him four hours- much of which time he spent lying on his back with his head in a cupboard, sighing piteously.

This morning was the telephone engineer. Our phones have been behaving erratically and he's rationalised the system- which was absurdly complicated- with three connection boxes- and now we have reason to believe that the phones will be working all the time.

Mmm, we (or rather, the plumber) had great fun when it proved time to replace the probably originial taps on the bath, as they'd similarly made themselves very comfortable, to the extent it took two of them about six hours to remove both, not helped by a particularly awkward layout with little room to spread out.

The phone system has been simplified. ^_^ There used to be an extension running upstairs, but that was removed recently, possible around the same time we had a plonker fell our phone pole. Which led to a bit of an outage, but eventually, a nice bit of a VDSL2 speed bump on the new wires. Yay!
