1.The political establishment- including most of the media and much of the Blairite high command of the Labour Party- detests Jeremy Corbyn- because he has principles and a moral compass- and has been trying its damnedest to persuade us that the electorate feels the same way. It now has a stonking great Labour victory in Oldham West (my old constituency) to explain away.

2. In the modern political lexicon "moderate" has come to mean a person who votes for war- and writing to your MP to suggest they vote against war has become "harrassment".

3. Some MPs who were in favour of war have been labelled "baby murderers". Isn't that terrible! So much worse (in the view of the above mentioned political establishment) than voting for a policy that will inevitably result in babies being murdered.

I certainly got the impression that the BBC was all geared up to tell us why it was Jeremy Corbyn's fault that Labour had done so badly in the Oldham by-election, and weren't going to change the script just because they did rather well. It was all about the "reduced majority" in numerical terms, and do we have to mention that actually Labour increased their percentage lead (because the turn-out is always lower at a by-election).

The BBC seems incapable of dealing with Corbyn's "new" politics.

Oh so very true.

If I'm blown up on a flight, I'll hold the likes of Cameron just as culpable as ISIS, both wanting nothing more than a long and bloody battle for glory. All this British incursion will mean is yet more innocent families being ripped apart and sent into the welcoming arms of ISIS - not because they necessarily approve of them, but because they at least will exact revenge. (Funny that - bombing people just makes the survivors upset and angry with you. How does that work?)

I don't need to check how my MP voted - he's the kind that finds Cameron too liberal, so when he's not toeing the party line, he's wishing it'd be further out toward the Hang 'Em All brigade.

I'm beginning to think history will regard Cameron as an even worse PM than Blair.

I don't know, this whole mumbo jumbo around the new war campaigns of all of the European nations - it looks to me like simply wanting to be part of the party, nothing else. No-one has a strategy, all just think "drop some bombs in and the thing somehow is going to end.
I'm not against the need for wars, but what I'm clearly against is wars without a plan. People trying to make war who overestimate their own capacities and reach of influence.

Syria is a civil war. There are no good guys. And Cameron's idea that there is such a thing as as Islamist "moderate" is ridiculous.

3. It's not 'worse' - they're both bad; I've no doubt that some MP's genuinely think we're going to war for the right reasons, even if it is the wrong decision... Painting everybody who disagrees as immoral is always unhelpful, no matter which side engages in it.

I'm afraid I'm a bit hard line on this one. I think anyone who has examined the evidence and still thinks bombing Syria is a good idea is either amoral (rather than immoral) or simply stupid.

Sure, but there's still a huge difference between being stupid - which I'll allow - and wilfully murderous.
