Night Thoughts

The traditional thing is to count sheep. Last night I was counting poets laureate. I reckoned I knew them all from Southey on- and I checked this morning and found I did- and that I'd even got them in the right order.

There's a mouse that vists the corner cupboard in the early hours of the morning. It's a noisy beast. We used to keep soap in there and mice love soap.

Yesterday afternoon there was a strange tapping noise in my house as I sat in the kitchen, nodding off to an episode of QI on Youtube. It woke me up and I started thinking what sort of animal might have gotten into the attic, but in the end it was just a man knocking on my front door. (" While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, / As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.") Turned out it was a guy come to empty the septic tank - nothing more.
