Corbyn has moved from the margins of British politics to the centre.  He's always been a rebel- even against the high-ups of his own party. It's as if Robin Hood just got appointed Sherrif of Nottingham.

He's also a person of quite alarming consistency and integrity ( which is why we love him so.) He's never seen a compromise he didn't hate. And now he's in a position where he's going to have to wheel and deal.

Britain is a plutocracy. Corbyn detests plutocracy. My fear is the forces ranged against him (which include almost everyone in a position of power and influence) are going to stamp him into the earth.

I could argue with the sweeping generalisations you've made here, but to be honest I doubt you'd even bother to read them.

From what I've read this morning, the Labour Party is already divided and resignations are coming thick and fast. You seem to think that its the Tories et al who will push Corbyn out - beg to differ. I suspect it will be his own party. Labour want to win the next election. If they think Corby will stop them doing it, they'll find someone they think can.

Oh, I agree. The first thing he has to do is sort the party out. The problem for the Blairites is that they very decisively lost the leadership election and Corbyn won it. The electorate doesn't like them much.

Labour might not win with Corbyn leading it, but would it stand a better chance with Cooper or Burnham? I doubt it.

I thought Labour was finished after the last election, because why would one vote Tory lite when one can have the real thing? I didn't see Corbyn coming- and I think (or hope) that he may turn things round.

I hope that whatever rifts there are within the party , Corbyn and Tom Watson together will be able to stitch the party back into a fighting force that it lost along time ago.

I hope so. I thought the party was finished after the last election- but now I think it may have an outside chance.

If he really does have an isolationist policy of leaving NATO and the EU, really does advocate printing money as a way of stoping austerity, wants to re nationalise energy companies and allows buy to let for private tenants, he will fail very quickly. But it's hard to know: the media is reporting a good deal of stuff he never said.
