1. We have a very large spider in our bedroom. I'm calling her Matilda. She appeared a few nights ago and seems to do nothing except move up and down the valley where the walls join the ceiling. I don't think she has a web and I can't see her catching anything. Doesn't seem like much of a life.

2. There are hornets nesting under the roof of the vestibule. They're enormous but dopey.  At night- when the kitchen lights are on- they bump and buzz audibly against the windows.  When they get in doors- as they do occasionally- I trap them under a tumbler and release them into the great outdoors.

3. The bees are still living under the eaves by the patio. There was great activity a few days back- and we thought they might be swarming- but it seems they were just putting in extra effort after several days of rain.

You gotta watch out for women named Matilda. They take your money and run to Venezuela.

I'm not one to advocate killing of bees or hornets, but I think you might try to find a way to get them out of your house while the numbers are still manageable. Yes, I know,my opinion. You might be able to find a bee keeper to help with the bees, at least.

It's a homely name-and spiders are homely beings.

Having been bitten by a spider in my sleep, a bite that gave me a very swollen arm and a lot of pain, I couldn't sleep knowing there was a large spider in our room any longer...

Ah, I didn't need to hear that...

But I don't think we have poisonous spiders over here.

Sorry.
:(
We don't have many really bad ones either but most spiders bite and inject venom of some sort. Mostly it's harmless or causes transient discomfort and I may just be sensitive to it like some people are to bee stings.
