The Difference A Year Makes

I don't believe my mother's condition has changed much over this past year. Looking back over this blog I see that in August '14 we were already having conversations that went,

"What are we doing today?"

"Nothing."

"Oh good."

On the other hand Ailz and I have certainly become creakier. In the first half of this year we were cheerily swanning out in the car twice a week and now we're pacing ourselves. This Sunday past we drove to Leicester- a round trip of 300 miles- and we're still recovering.

Well, Leicester isn't exactly round the corner from you and of course recovery time is longer. Once a week out is pretty good at our age.

I'm about to make a 400 mile drive in one day for the second time in two weeks and I'm exhausted just thinking about it. And I'm 8 years younger than you!

That sounds really harsh.

Long journeys are made tolerable by breaks for meals and even a little sight seeing but if you've got 400 miles to cover in a day you can hardly afford more than the briefest stops.
