As one gets older the obituary pages become increasingly personal. Once upon a time they dealt with the people who made one's parents' world, now they deal with the people who created the world of one's youth. In the past week and a bit we've waved off Cilla Black, George Cole and now David Nobbs- who wrote The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin.

It's a sad opener, indeed. I think my world was shattered, in this regard, by Mr Sellers' demise, which was prodded home repeatedly on the way up to London, with the news bulletins constantly reminding me that he was indeed dead. Still.

And yes, it's rather sad to hear about George Cole, too. They did try reviving the show, but.. FSM, it was fairly dire. =:D Worth tracking down, just for the masochistic delight thereof. =:)

We, however, are here. Let us take advantage of this odd happenstance. ^_^
