It's great that Stan Wawrinka has muscled his way into the top echelon, but he's older than Djokovic- so hardly a name for the future. The women's final was also contested by oldsters.

So where are the promising young players?

Tennis is experiencing a drought right now. No young people want to play it seems, maybe not enough money.

So GLAD to see Mr. Wawrinka win and not the Serb. AND, go Serena!

Wawrinka's performance was amazing. I didn't think he stood a chance.

And Serena won in spite of having flu.

I think we're going to look back on this as a golden age.

The Golden Age was Borg/McEnroe, Stan Smith, Cliff Drysdale...

I think the era of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and the Williams sisters is pretty golden too- but it's clearly coming to an end. Federer is failing, Nadal may be carrying too many injuries now and Djokovic and Serena are growing old.

My worry is the current stars will fade away and there'll be no-one left on court but second-raters.
