I love the bit of a tail twitch going on at the tip!

Yes. He wasn't enjoying the photo session.

That cat looks like he's going to remember this photo session and get her just revenge. If I were you I'd check my shoes before getting into them for the next few days.

Also, compared to the 20-plus pound Scamp, he's a wee thing.

P.S. I'd have advised a female. Females are better mousers. Males, especially one that have been neutered, tend to be lazy layabouts.

I have to contest that :D. My own orange boys has been a quite diligent mouser until lately, he still tries but at age 13 has lost his eye teeth and seems to be unable to catch them any more. But before that, his daily average was 2-3.

I probably should have said, "In my experience," which spans a fair number of feline huntresses and lazy toms.

LOL.. Could it be that German Toms do it better :D ? Thinking back over my family and friends'cat history here.. And the best hunters were always the guys.. Th most obsessed ones about mousing too. But my orange master hunter is actually Italian, so there :D . Most of our cat ladies have always cared about playing, sleeping and eating here :D

We're hoping it'll be enough that he's around- that the rodents will sniff the air and decide they'll be healthier elsewhere.

Completely true - my brother has had two male cats and both were totally uninterested in mousing!

What a beautiful boy :) I am sure he will be the kind of the place very soon :)

And the keeping him in one room has sense, having relocated my own cats several times when moving myself, I can confirm that when in a new place they tend to be confused until their "inner GPS" has completely linked in with the place. Particularly if they have been strays for a while.

Welcome to the slaves of the orange catdom, in any case. They are wonderful owners to have :D

He's spent much of the afternoon dozing on my mother's lap. I think he must have been an old person's cat before- and saw a person with a blanket over their knees and thought, "Now there's something I understand!"

Wow, I owned a cat that looked exactly like that, roughly 20 years ago.

We left the choice of cat to the people at the sanctuary, but Ailz was hoping for a ginge.

Great photo! I own two ginger tabbies myself. I hope he proves to be a good mouser!

We'll see. I'm hoping his presence will be enough to deter the rodents.
