If she's largely happy, that's the best that can be hoped for. At the end of Roy's father's life his short term memory was totally shot -- as in, couldn't remember the beginning of a sentence by the time he got to the end. But he was one of the happiest guys I've ever seen.
There are a lot worse things that could happen. Roy's mother had Alzheimer's and the last thing to leave her was the awareness that something was wrong. She lay in her bed weeping softly for months.
Oh dear ...I can't quite believe it. I can't believe she is not aware of something like that. Is this a form of denial or that I kind of know that this not noticing comes and goes? Jenny xx
There are times she seems more alert -and aware of what's going on- but there's no point in pretending that the general trend is for her to become more and more detached.
