1. I acquired a "pup" overnight. It was standing guard and going wurrah-wurrah-wurrah every time I tried to get on-line. It took Ailz about an hour to drive it off and clean up after it.

2. The flea in the moon story (Dr Who) was bloody stupid. I'm amazed quality control didn't kick in at an early stage and direct the writer back to the drawing board.

3. John Wayne's Alamo movie (1960) was one of the first "grown-up" movies I ever went to and it imprinted on me. I see now it's sort of John Ford and water- but still not half bad. I caught the end of the recent remake last night. It's ponderous and aspires to accuracy- but would a single man with a fiddle really have been able to overpower and silence a phalanx of drummers? I love the scene in which a captured, frightened Davy Crockett remembers who he is, assumes the persona and goes down cheeking his killers. Billy Bob Thornton is a marvellous actor. Oh, and not a single coonskin hat in sight!

4. Kevin Pietersen is telling it how it was. I've always thought it was a shame and a scandal that the most exciting batsman of the modern game should have been dumped out of Test cricket. How could we have done that to ourselves? You get a talent that wonderful and what you should be doing is building your team around it. Pietersen says there was a lot of bullying going on. Bloody Andy Flower! Bloody bowlers!

It wasn't a flea -- it was a space dragon! Also a MacGuffin, since the real action was in Clara's explosion at the end.

Flea, dragon, MacGuffin- whatever it was it was extraordinarily silly.

It was, at least, a beautiful McGuffin. ^_^;

Agreed on the Dr. Who- so preachy, too! I think this is the first episode in recent memory that I actively disliked.

They've had a good run. I guess it couldn't go on forever.

KtM was such a bizarre episode. Obviously, DW isn't hard SF - but good grief, couldn't the writer leave a few shreds of science intact? Such a pity, as all that obscured the core of the story - the need for humanity to spread its wings and begin exploring again, this time in space. (And, of course, that decision, although it seemed rather poorly framed - it'd be reasonable to assume moon fragments raining down on the Earth probably wouldn't be very good news for a lot of people, which point they completely ducked)
