A film about the Crusades!

Brilliant!

A Ridley Scott film about the Crusades.

Oh... (long pause.) Will it be as stupid as Gladiator?

Initial reports suggest even stupider.

(Sighs.) Oh well, guess I'll wait till it comes out on DVD.

It's not even a good crusade, either. #3. I guess we can be glad it's not #4.

I saw a clip last night. A cavalry charge in slow motion- oh, puhleeze!

Some Christians are predictably upset about the portrayal of same in the film.

Guys. Crusades. Not your finest hour.

I don't know why it is but the Crusades make me come over all maudlin. Maybe I died at the Horns of Hattin in one of my earlier outings. Whatever the reason, I really, really want this film to be good, and it bugs me that it won't be.

He never gets particularly good reviews- but I guess someone up there must love him.

Don't tell me, let me guess, Brad Pitt as Richard I and Orlando Bloom as Saladin?

Close.

Orlando Bloom as some blacksmith or other and Liam Neeson as a Jedi knight (sorry- knight templar or knight hospitaller or whatever)

Not me. I want to gaze at Orlando Bloom, be he ever so stupid.

Be still, my heart.

He is very pretty, I'll grant you that.

This time he gets to wear a beard.

I saw a brief trailer for this a week ago. Eh.

I'm with you, I'd like to see this done properly, but I suspect we're going to be treated to a lot of battles, loud noises, and crappy dialogue and acting ala Alexander. I didn't even see that one and it pissed me off. Colin Firth with a bad dye job playing my favorite historical figure? I think not.

I was disappointed with the wayAlexander looked as well. So much so that I didn't go see it either. Too bad, because Stone is a talented filmmaker and I do like Colin Farrell. *sigh* Oh, well.

Oops - you're right, it's Farrell not Firth.

Mr Darcy conquers the known world- I like it.

And doing so with impeccably good taste and manners. ;-)

But with a certain hauteur which might cause some persons to form a prejudice against him.

I'm getting tired of computer generated spectacle. I just don't think armies of pixillated characters look the same as armies of real live human beings. Everybody was going wild about the battles in LOTR, but I wasn't that impressed.

I didn't see Alexander either- but then I can't be doing with Oliver Stone's brand of melodrama.
