Ed says he's going to take benefits away from young people unless they sign up for training.

Train to do what, Ed? Will you have jobs lined up for them at the end of their training?

Hm?

No, sorry, it's not doing it for me. You can't make that all-important contact with the electorate so you sidle a few centimetres further to the right. And take a swipe at the young because, hey, the fuckers don't vote.

"Do you like me now?"

No, Ed, I'm afraid not. In fact every time you open your mouth I like you less.

Conviction? I'm not seeing it.

Passion? Don't make me laugh.

Ideas? Is making life tougher for the young really your best shot?

Besides, you look like a twit.

Step aside, please. Let someone else have a go.

I was quite pleased he beat his creepy brother to the job, but- as it turns out- he's not the stuff of which leaders are made.

He sounds like our PM.

We've had training schemes for a while now, and as a result, every unemployed person is a trained barista who also knows how to pull a beer and what the laws are on serving alcohol to minors. And many of them have actual certificates saying that they know how to use the internet.

It's the same across the Western world- this is a generation of politicians who don't have a clue...

Not better than any department of employment in the last 10 to 15 years here.

The world has changed, the jobs aren't there, being mean to the unemployed is not the solution...

Guess some of those high position people once need to be unemployed themselves and stripped off their capital...

It's a mystery to me, you know.

There was a time when I was a Labour Party member- not any more- not since Iraq and the Kelly affair.

I'm told I've moved further to the left, but I still stand where I always did- to the left of the old Labour Party.

Where does a genuine left Socialist (not a Marxist, not a Trot) find someone with genuine Socialist views to vote for these days?

The field is wide open. Farage has shown that small parties can be propelled into the political mainstream. So where are the Farages of the left?
