My last teaching post as deputy head in a country primary school was fun as there was an old maypole tradition dating back to the 1850's and I revived a lot more of the may traditions too.

I was vicar of a church with a Rose Queen tradition. It got very political sometimes- with mothers campaigning and scheming and backbiting in order to get their daughters crowned.
