In Mourning

We're approaching the anniversary of Eric's death and Ailz's mother is feeling it. She reproaches herself for not keeping him alive- as you do.  Ailz has seen her every day this week but is giving today a miss because she's exhausted. Yesterday morning they went to the Crem to put a rose in a vase by Eric's flowerbed.

It doesn't feel like a year already. I'm glad Ailz is resting today.

He died in June but went into hospital in April

The first anniversary is often the worst. The old cliche that time heals is true but you have to get over a few roadblocks first. I'm glad Ailz is able to take a day off and I hope her mum can come to terms that she wasn't the cause of his death.

I was taught that it takes at least 18 months before you begin to emerge from a period of mourning.

I feel my brother's passing more and more every year, but I've been told that after three years it gets better. It's true, one blames one's self for not doing things differently. Peace to Ailz' mother, and all good thoughts.

Eric was very sick. It's obvious nothing could have been done for him, but the bereaved don't think logically...
