Ailz has received her letter about the transition from DLA to PIP. We've been bracing ourselves for an official going-over ever since the change was announced but we're now informed that long-established cases like Ailz's won't be due for re-assessment until 2015 at the earliest. It gives us a breathing space. By the time they turn their attention our way I'll be on the brink of drawing my pension. Besides, a lot can happen in two years- a change of government for instance.

Shame they feel the need to bully the genuinely disabled rather than going after the legions of skrimshankers!

This government has a fine record of making life difficult for the powerless.

I googled, and understand the acronyms, but I don't understand the significance.

The change is really about the government saving money. They want to get as many people classified as fit to work- and off disability benefit- as they possibly can. The private companies charged with assessing claims are incompetent and working to a political agenda. The longer one can stay out of their clutches the better.

A great deal of distress has already been caused. There have been monstrous mistakes- with people being declared fit to work on their death-beds etc, etc. Numerous people have been put through such hell they've died of the strain or committed suicide.

Wow. Truly horrible. Monstrous is the right word!

I am horrified at all the truly disabled and ill people your government is reclassifying as fit to work...some people I'm very close to have had their benefits taken away. Of course, the same thing is happening here in Spain with our disgusting conservatives. They are causing so much hardship I don't know how they can sleep at night. Of course, none of it affects them or their families.

We have a ruling class that contains almost nobody who knows what it's like to be short of money.

I'm dreading the change to PIP but I'm led to believe that mum's assessment will be in 2015 as well, which will help. She's also past retirement age which gives us another level of uncertainty as no one seems to know what will happen.

When Ailz got her award- in the mid 90s- we were given to understand it was for life. Then along comes this present government and says "Oh, no it ain't".
